FRP Stair Treads
EX-Series® FRP STAIR TREAD SYSTEMS
The Treadwell collection of FRP Stair Treads is engineered with both open-grid and solid surface configurations, along with a wide variety of surface finishes, colour selections, and leading-edge nosing options. Every GratEX® and MoultrEX® stair tread, including both premium and standard models, is manufactured with an integrated solid nosing edge formed as a single continuous component. This construction method strengthens the leading edge and delivers enhanced durability and reliability in demanding, high-footfall environments. Stair treads fitted with abrasive nosings are produced in accordance with internationally recognised industrial safety standards.
Conventional stair systems commonly rely on metal stringer brackets that often require regular protective coatings to help reduce corrosion over time. In many installations, mounting holes are drilled onsite after coatings are applied, weakening the protective layer and increasing the likelihood of corrosion exposure. It is also common for these support brackets to be fabricated using lighter gauge materials than nearby structural components, reducing long-term durability in harsh industrial settings.
Our stair tread systems provide a durable and cost-efficient alternative to traditional metallic assemblies and are frequently selected for both replacement projects and new infrastructure developments across industrial facilities throughout Asia. All EX-Series® resin formulations are compatible with our Stair Treads, which are supplied standard with four M-Clips. Treads can be delivered pre-assembled for faster installation or shipped ready for onsite assembly depending on project requirements. Pre-drilled stringer support brackets are also available to simplify installation and reduce labour time where required.
GratEX® and MoultrEX® Stair Tread nosings are generally supplied in high-visibility contrasting colours designed to clearly differentiate the tread edge from the main walking surface. This visual contrast significantly improves stair edge awareness in industrial and commercial facilities, helping support safer movement in operational environments while improving workplace safety outcomes.
To minimise hazards associated with elevated platforms, access systems, and industrial walkways, Treadwell strongly recommends specifying leading-edge nosings when selecting GratEX® and MoultrEX® Stair Treads for your project.
NOTE: A minimum bearing surface of 40mm is recommended on both sides of GratEX® and MoultrEX® Stair Treads. For industrial safety compliance, a tread depth > 225mm is recommended for most applications.
GratEX® landings also form an essential part of Treadwell’s comprehensive FRP access solutions range. Each landing system is custom fabricated to suit the specific operational and structural requirements of the project. These landings improve visibility while significantly reducing the surface wear commonly experienced in high-traffic access areas. Combining long-lasting anti-slip performance, excellent corrosion resistance, and low maintenance requirements, GratEX® landings deliver dependable long-term value when paired with GratEX® Stair Treads, making them a practical solution for industrial facilities across diverse Asian environments.
